Alexei is a funding specialist and leads our Business Funding team. He joined Shaw & Co in 2018 having built his corporate finance career over 20 years in companies including PVE Capital, Credaris, Halifax (Bank of Scotland Treasury Services) and Lazard Brothers. Over the last 10 years he’s advised on over £2bn in restructured post crisis client portfolios and has arranged over £400m in client funding.

Alexei is entrepreneurially focused and at Shaw & Co he provides funding advice to UK SME clients in a range of sectors including energy & natural resources, food & beverages, professional services and public sector.

The Business Funding team he leads arranges funding for UK SMEs from the traditional and alternative funding sources including banks, insurers, specialist funds and family offices. Typical mandates include all types of growth funding, acquisition, MBI or MBO financing with facilities ranging from £2m to £100m. During the Covid pandemic, Alexei and his team provided advice to over 700 clients needing CBILS funding.

When Alexei’s away from the office, his three young children, running and cycling consume his time. He loves rugby, cricket, indie music and is helping his local Weston All Saints Church to fund a sizeable extension construction project.
