Shaw & Co are delighted to have advised EnSilica on a £3.7m debt raise funded by Caple. EnSilica has world-class expertise in supplying custom analogue, digital and mixed signal integrated circuits to international OEM customers in the automotive, industrial, healthcare and consumer markets.

With rapid developments in these markets, such as the move to autonomous vehicles within the automotive sector, EnSilica has an exciting opportunity to fulfil customer needs by both designing, and now supplying, integrated circuits to support these new technologies.

The 8-year fixed rate loan facility, which is totally unsecured and does not require any equity dilution, provides optimal capital support for EnSilica’s business strategy.

Colin Burns, Director, Debt Advisory, Shaw & Co, commented: “We worked very closely with the management team at EnSilica, in particular Ian Lankshear (MD) and Mark Hodgkins (Chairman), to arrange this flexible and affordable funding package that is also most suitable for the company’s medium term goals.  Now that EnSilica is well capitalised for the next stage of its journey, I’m excited to watch it develop into a major player in its chosen markets. We are grateful to the team at Caple for their diligent yet expedient approach throughout this transaction, which completed in 10 weeks from initial discussion.”

Mark Hodgkins, Chairman of EnSilica, commented: “The process to initiate and complete this funding provided by Caple was managed effectively by Shaw & Co; they showed particular expertise in rapidly understanding the nature of our business model and demonstrated their commercial experience. Their track record of working with Caple was of advantage in ensuring we completed the process promptly. This funding opportunity was brought to us by Shaw & Co and their management of the process was critical for our success.”

Dominic Buch, Managing Partner of Caple commented; “The asset-light nature of EnSilica’s business model can be a challenge for traditional secured lenders. However, the strength of the management team and cash generative nature of the business makes long-term, fully unsecured lending a suitable option. We are delighted to have completed this transaction with the team at Shaw & Co. to whose clients we have now provided over £10m of funding”
