On the 20th March 2020, our Queen Square office was closed as we initiated a Business Contingency Plan (BCP) to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. During the pandemic, our employees have maintained the highest levels of service to our clients whilst working safely from home.
As government guidelines have recently changed, we are delighted to be re-opening our Queen Square office in Bristol from Monday 10th August 2020.
Whilst we are delighted to reopen, we do so with newly established protocols to maintain the safety of our clients, partners, employees and their families. Below is a summary of the measures we have in place to maintain safe operating conditions for all.
Our approach to COVID-19
The senior management team of Shaw & Co takes the COVID-19 threat seriously and we are taking all reasonable measures to prepare for and mitigate the risk of COVID-19 to our team members, our clients, and our business. Shaw & Co has an established risk mitigation strategy that incorporates BCPs for all our critical activities, risk assessments, and crisis-management protocols. We activated this strategy as soon the extent of the pandemic was known. Our executive team continue to meet regularly to monitor activities and adapt our operations to the changing environment.
Shaw & Co acknowledges that employers have a vital role to play by taking the necessary action to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We are committed to providing a safe environment for our employees and their families.
Our employees have received COVID-19 training and are committed to maintaining strict social distancing and hygiene standards by following the advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.
Our Human Resources team has detailed processes in place to limit the transmission of infection including social distancing and extended hygiene protocols. Additionally, we are supporting our employees with amended sickness and time off policies for those who need to self-isolate, fall ill, or need to make other work-life adjustments for childcare and elder care.
We have taken additional precautions to protect our workforce and visitors. Newly introduced measures include increased cleaning and disinfection, high visibility signage to maintain safe social distancing, limited access for visitors and the availability of personal protective equipment.
We have comprehensive plans to temporarily close part or all of our office to perform deep cleaning in the event an employee or visitor is considered a risk, shows symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19.
All visitors to our office will be asked to read this statement and agree to comply with our new working practices. All visitors must complete a Visitor’s Questionnaire to self-declare their health status as part of the governments track and trace recommendations. Any visitor who declares COVID-19 symptoms will not be permitted to visit our office.
If our employees are asked to visit a client or a partner site, they must be provided with similar COVID-19 protections from the hosting business in advance of that meeting.
Our approach to meetings is that they should be limited to “essential meetings” only. This is to limit unnecessary travel and footfall within our Queen Square office. Non-essential meetings will be conducted by video conferencing or telephony.
All internal and external events have been rescheduled virtually, postponed, or cancelled until further notice.
Our cloud-based IT capability allows our employees to operate effectively and safely from any internet connected location. We have invested heavily since the beginning of the pandemic to further secure our IT infrastructure to protect all data within our systems considering the increased cyber security threat arising from greater levels of remote working. We do not anticipate that there will be any restrictions on our ability to deliver our services to the highest standards.
