After completing a PhD in Physics at Bristol University, I spent a few years in scientific research including 2 years at the European Synchrotron in Grenoble that I admit was partly motivated by my love of white-water kayaking and snowboarding in the French Alps. However, research was not for me so I looked to the private sector for challenge and reward.
I started my corporate finance career at KPMG in London in 2003 where I worked on a wide range of deals including public company takeovers and IPOs on AIM. I achieved my professional qualification, became a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and relocated to Bristol. I now have over 14 years’ deal experience across a broad range of clients and transactions. My motivation is to get an outstanding result for our clients – to me that is a job well done.
When Jim set up Shaw & Co back in 2011, I was his first employee, and have never looked back. Being part of building this business has been an incredible journey, and it’s very rewarding to see it go from strength to strength.
